jeremy's readers journal number 23

JEREMY’S READERS JOURNAL #23     2/7/12
Dear Mrs. Zrihen I currently finished the book “play, Louis, play” by Frank Morrison. The genre is biography. The characters are Louis , mother Mayann, his grandma, his sister Beatrice, and his little horn. The setting is at the shop, and his house. The plot structure is his house, then trying to buy his first horn, then getting arrested, him begging to come out of jail, then him playing his first horn at home. The conflict is that he got arrested, character VS character. The tone was loud because of the trumpet. The mood was sad because he almost never got his horn. The theme was his horn. The moral is to never break into a shop without paying for it. the point of view is also sad. The pattern of organization is chronological order because it’s telling what he did and how he got his horn. The Authors purpose is to inform you bout a true story about a boy and his horn. The Authors perspective is objective because he accomplished something by buying his horn that he has always wanted.  I rate this book a 5/5 because it entertained me and it gave me the information I needed to know.

JEREMY’S READERS JOURNAL #21
Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I am currently reading the book “ Nelson Mandela, long walk to freedom” by Paddy Bouma. The genre is Autobiography, the characters are Nelson Mandela, his father, his mother, the fathers friend Chief Jongintaba, uncles son Justice, Oliver Tambo, his friend Walter Sisulu, and Evelyn mase. Setting is first in his house then uncles house then jail. The plot structure is in his house then going to his uncles house because dad died, then going to live in a dirty place before going to jail, then going to jail, then people wanted him to be freed. Conflict was that he went to jail. The tone is loud because he is saying that he doesn’t want to go to jail. The mood is sad. The theme was hot. The authors purpose was to inform about Nelson Mandela’s days. The authors perspective is objective because he accomplished going away from jail.  I rate this book a 4/5 because it didn’t really excite me or entertain me it just gave me lots of info of what he did. It didn’t keep me in the zone. I hope you understood the answers and what I was trying to say these questions

Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I am currently reading the book “Uncover the human body” by Luann Colombo. The genre is informational, the characters are none, its just talking about the human body, the setting is in the human body, the exposition is when the food goes down the throat, then it goes to the stomach to be digested then it absorbs all the water from the food from the large intestine then it comes out. The conflict is when the bone breaks it really is painful, character VS self. Nothing, the mood is hurtful when you break a bone or have a stomach -ache.  The theme is bloody, the moral is to always chew your food before you swallow, I think the author’s point of view is educated because he has been learning so much about the human body. The pattern of organization is chronological order because it’s telling about the human body from the mouth and lower. The author’s purpose in writing this book is to inform about the human body. The author is objective because he accomplished a story about the food going from the mouth to the digestive system. I hope you learned a lot in my rj. I rate this book a 5/5 because it had so much information.

jeremy's readers journal #15

Readers journal #15          12/7/11
 Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I currently finished the book “the Spiderwick chronicles” by Tony Diterlizzi and Holly Black. This book is obviously a fantasy because that is what you said. The characters are the two twins, Jared and Simon, the older sister Mallory, and the mom Helen Grace. The Protagonist: Jared, Simon, Mallory, and Helen Grace (mom). The antagonist: scary creatures. It all started when the Grace family moved to a new house. From the outside the kids thought it was cool because it has an attic, and the house was huge. When the kids took their suitcases in the house, the walls were torn apart, the lamp on the ceiling looked like it was going to fall, and Jared heard something in the wall. When his sister and his brother came in the house their face was filled with disgust. Jared told them that he heard something in the walls. When they went to their rooms the floor was a mess, hidden in the dust of the floors was a little key to some room. As soon as Simon came in the room he was wondering why his brother was holding a strange key. Just as his sister came in the house after bringing in a jar of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches they went to search the walls for any hidden keyholes that would fit the key right. Simon found a little square-shaped elevator in the walls. His sister was wondering what that was. His sister said that, that elevator was too small for her and that one of the brothers will have to go. When the two brothers agreed that Jared would go he tried to fit in and he fit perfectly. As soon as the elevator started to move by the ropes his sister was pulling he kept on hearing the noise like a squirrel, (maybe that is what was making that noise) he thought. When the elevator stopped he found this room with a strange poem written on it “in a man’s torso you will find, my secret to all mankind, if false and true can be the same, you will soon know of my fame, up and up and up again, good luck dear friend”. He thought it meant that there is scary creatures outside. Just as he heard something in the darkness of the walls, he found some glasses, he put them on and was able to see the invisible creatures outside trying to get in the house!! He was wondering why that couldn’t come but then he realized that there is some kind of liquid on the grass forming a wall for the creatures not to come in, it only works for the humans to go through it. when the kids went to fight they won victory. I hope you enjoy reading this story.
