readers journal number 5

JEREMYS READERS JOURNAL # 5               9/27/11
Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I am currently reading “Football Hero” by Tim Green. The genre is fiction. The setting is at car-pool, then at school, then at home. The protagonist is Ty, uncle Gus, Mike. Charlotte, thane, Aunt Virginia, and Poyer. The antagonist is the other team. It’s character VS character. The authors purpose is to entertain about a football game. The exposition: at car-pool, the rising action: the first game. So the story that I read so far is about a boy named Ty who came to school on the fist day late. Just as he took one out of the bus the coach yelled out in his face , Ty worriedly, tried to think of a lie. When the bus driver drove away the smoke filled Ty’s face. When coach puled Ty’s shirt into the class they started getting ready for gym. When coach said 5 more minutes Ty was  rushing to tie his shoes . when he was ready, he noticed that when he rushed he tied the laces together, (now it feels like a rope being tied into his leg). When he was running he tripped and coach thought that he did that on purpose so he made him do 20 push-ups for pretending to fool around. While he was tying his shoe again the team lined up and coach was picking who to be quarter back and offense. Just as  he was offense Ty caught the ball in the air and ran so fast that when other players were trying to get him he jumped over them, stopped to let them fall by , and spun around so it will be tricky, just as he did all of that he noticed white line, so he crossed it right when the player was 5 steps behind him and got his team a TOUCHDOWN!!!! So  he walked back home from school, and he found his Aunt Verginia standing in front of him. He wanted to know the problem ,so he realized that it was his birthday and that he was late to decorate. His Aunt was angry that he didn’t tell her where he really was, so as a punishment he had to clean the table with his toothbrush. The presents he got for his birthday was a football, and a football helmet, (that way he could practice at home.) When he came back from school he found his older brother Thane watching the stove because, it was the birthday cake, and watching his favorite show football. So far the main idea is Ty the boy proving to coach that he's really good in football.

                                                 READERS JOURNAL # 3                         9/13/11
Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I am currently reading “The 39 clues” by Gordan Korman. The genre of the book is fiction because it tells about kids going all over the world to find them for the race. The characters are Dan, Amy Cahill, Mozart, Saladin, and Nellie. The protagonist are everyone, the antagonist is the Opponents. The setting is in a hotel, mozarts house, and Vienna. The exposition is at home, the rising action is going to a hotel, the climax is finding the first clue from Mozart’s music. So the Book so far is about 2 kids named Dan and Amy. In the morning Dan saw this race around the world to find the clues so when he came to dinner he asked his mom if he can go with Amy to find them, so she said yes but with a parents permission. When they were on a train to Vienna, Dan had problems finding a seat because the train was crowded with old people. Before they left the train a person was talking in Spanish and Dan couldn’t understand him, so he thought it was something bad so he made a run for it. When they got to their hotel, Dan and Amy went to look for a clue in a mysterious place, so they went to Mozart’s house and checked if whatever he did had a clue in it. When they read his music they found a clue. Also from that clue they read a book and realized that he had an older sister. When they came back to the hotel and ate lunch and thought about where the 2nd clue must be. (this story will continue when I read the whole book)

jeremy's readers journal 2

Dear Mrs. Zrihen
I just finished reading “Ghost Hunt” by Jason Hawes and grant Wilson. Apparently the book is made up of several different ghost stories. The genre of the book is fiction. the characters are Jason, Grant, Jen, Diana, and Mr. martin. the protagonist are Jason, Grant, Diana, Jen, and Diana. The antagonist are the ghosts. the setting is at the island and at home. the exposition is an island, then the rising action is a big storm, then the climax is finding a ghost from the storm, then the falling action is asking for help, then the resolution is leaving home. Also for the next chapter the exposition is at home, then the rising action is getting water, then the climax is finding a ghost , then the falling action is writing to ghost hunters, then the resolution is killing ghost. It's character vs supernatural.the plot is about kids getting scared about ghosts. the tone is good  and the mood is scary and tense because the boy is with a ghost. theme is ghosts. the moral is to never be alone in the dark always with a parent. the point of view is scared. the authors purpose is to inform that ghosts aren't real. reponse starters- i admire my book because it's about ghosts, i rate this book a 4/5 because it's too scary. One of the stories that I finished reading was about the 5 kids that go to an island to capture a ghost. As they were doing that two girls that were helping each other found another ghost that was staring at the girl from a dock. As the ghost was disappearing the girl wanted to yell for help but her throat choked. On that night it was so windy that everyone had to go back home. The last chapter was a bout a boy named Billy Turner, who had a ghost in his house. It all started when he went downstairs for water at midnight he thought he heard something so he went closer and closer and the closer he went the colder he got. When he ran down the stairs he ran into his best hiding spot he could find, he grabbed a flashlight and wrote to the ghost hunters that his house was haunted. When the ghost hunters read it, they were terrified themselves. So when they came to his house the used a special vacuum to suck the ghost in.
